PROGRAM OVERVIEW: Raise the Standard puts the rhetoric of early intervention into live application by focusing on making a difference in the lives of elementary school students. Through engaging activities and inspiring true-to-life scenarios, Raise the Standard teaches young readers how to manage some of the most trying and troubling aspects of pre-adolescence, including self-esteem, conflict resolution, peer pressure, honesty, etiquette, and hygiene. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Raise the Standard is the “how-to” resource that teachers and parents have wanted for a long time and that children desperately need. They will learn through stories, projects, and skits how to love and value themselves for who they are. Unit Two – Responsibility Students receive lessons on responsibility in all aspects of their lives, but with a special emphasis on school and home. Students will learn how being responsible now is vital preparation for their future. Unit Three – Loving and Caring These activities teach students the need to demonstrate love and affection to the people in their lives. They will also be taught the power of charity, empathy, forgiveness, and cooperation, culminating in a field trip to a nursing home or some other mutually beneficial community project. Unit Four – Breaking the Cycle of Prejudice Students will identify stereotypes in their culture, discuss their prejudices and as a final project share items from their culture/heritage of which they are proud. This unit aims to provide students with effective strategies to break the cycle of prejudice and stereotyping in our society. Unit Five – Peer Pressure: Saying “No” to Sex, Violence, & Drugs After reading and discussing real-life scenarios, students will be equipped with effective strategies to say “no” to sex, violence, and drugs. As a culminating project students will create banners and posters to spread their “say no” message to the entire school. Unit Six – Conflict Resolution Provides students with conflict resolution techniques which focus on negotiation, meditation, compromise, and assertiveness as viable alternatives to violence. Students will role play by adopting the personas of a variety of people in conflict and use the strategies they’ve learned to solve the problems. Unit Seven – Honesty Activities in this unit are designed to show students how honesty impacts every aspect of their lives. Students will learn how the lines between honesty and dishonesty have been blurred by mass media will complete a project to assess the honesty of some of the people they admire. Unit Eight – Manners & Etiquette Students will be taught the fundamentals of good manners and etiquette in a variety of settings such as in a restaurant or while talking on the phone. The culminating activity will be a field trip to a sit-down restaurant. Unit Nine – Hygiene & Grooming Activities on personal hygiene will inform students about the changes taking place in their bodies and how to always put their best foot forward. Students will attend an in-house field trip with a skincare specialist. The turnkey package includes hygiene kits for students.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW: Making It Work is an ideal tool for healthy relationship and marriage education. Based on research conducted by the National Extension Relationship & Marriage Education Network (NERMEN), the curriculum offers practical instruction on the skills necessary to succeed in marriage and prepares students for healthy relationships. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: The Making It Work Middle and High School program recognizes that all healthy relationships have common key elements.
